As legally mandated by the Missouri Department of Revenue and the Illinois Department of Revenue, EFB Coffee is required to collect valid tax exemption permits (such as food or reseller permits) at the point of sale for customers to qualify for any applicable tax exemptions.
It's important to note that these certificates should be kept on file to substantiate the tax-exempt status of the sales. In Illinois, certificates of resale should be updated at least every three years.
By ensuring that customers provide the appropriate completed forms, your business can comply with state regulations regarding tax-exempt sales.
- Missouri: Customers should complete the Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate (Form 149).
- Illinois: Customers need to provide the Certificate of Resale (Form CRT-61).
For other exemptions, they may need the Application for Sales Tax Exemption (Form STAX-1).
